One idea might be to make it a "club effect". Use colors like red, black and white. Think of the movie "Chicago". If you paint the walls a dark red, the effect will be amazing. I would use use white poster board to cut musical notes. They will stand out if you stagger them on the dark walls. Then log onto prom and party theme stores. You can find some great clearance items for events with a musical theme. Prom stuff is really great because it is large and is made for effect.
